Tel Aviv is noted for many reasons. German Templars were instrumental in its first years in the late 1800 and early 1900s. Ficus was planted due to their large size and shade they provide to shelter from the Mideast sun. And bats, well I guess they just thrive on the ficus berries which in the end stain the Tel Aviv sidewalks, while bat poop stains the sides of bauhaus buildings.
